The exhibition "She Astronomers" will arrive in the coming weeks at La Casa de la Ciencia to commemorate "Sevilla European Capital of Space 2019". It consists of explanatory panels, interactive furniture and various pieces of props used in the film Agora, directed by Alejandro Amenábar, and which tells the life of Hypatia of Alexandria, astronomer, mathematician and philosopher born in the fourth century. This prop includes various statues and reproductions of astronomical instruments such as sextants, quadrants or an armillary sphere, among others.
"She Astronomer" reviews various topics of this science, such as the Sun, the Solar System, star formation and evolution, galaxies, cosmology and astronomical instrumentation, and, in addition, includes the presence of astronomers in culture ( literature, cinema, etc.) and the relationship between their work and the most important moments in the history of the struggle for gender equality.
"She Astronomer" also allows learning by playing through various interactive modules designed to play and feel that include sound materials, videos or quizzes, among others.
The exhibition was designed during the International Year of Astronomy by the group 'She is an astronomer' and since then she has toured several cities of Spanish territory. It is currently managed by the Commission 'Woman and Astronomy' of the Spanish Society of Astronomy and is conducted under the curator of the astronomer Josefina F. Ling and the science historian Eulalia Pérez Sedeño.
Free guided tours are included with the general entrance to the Museum: Saturdays, Sundays and holidays at 12:00 h. Place reservation in order of arrival.
